This Has Been me Since Yesterday

a genuine labour of love...
The songs represent a body of work that Glaswegian songwriter Alex Weir accumulated over several decades, from the mid-60s through to the early 90s. Original versions of these songs were recorded at home using an old reel-to-reel tape recorder and were never designed for public consumption. While the home demos have a charm of their own, this ‘updated’ collection of songs, recorded during 2016 and 2017, provides the production values the songs have always deserved. Some of these songs may be more than fifty years old, but when you consider the state of the World today, most of the themes explored back then remain as relevant as the day they were written. A young songwriter picking up a guitar in 2018 might feel just as compelled to question prejudice, legal injustice, the follies of war, love and regret. At the age of 77, AC Weir finally debuts these tracks in an album his sons were compelled to produce and which surely stands as their father's lasting legacy. |
